| Abstract |
The Homestay Scheme plays a decisive role in fostering rural economic growth, particularly in the region. This study investigates how the Homestay Scheme influences the Rural economy in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, with the help of providing employment opportunities and income generation. The research employed Smart PLS-SEM to assess the measurement and structural model, validating the relationships between variables and confirming the robustness of the proposed model. Quantitative approach using both primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected from all 7 districts of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand with a sample size of 235 respondents, selected using convenience sampling. Secondary data were sourced from the Uttarakhand Tourism site. Results reveal that the Homestay Scheme has significantly contributed to job creation and income enhancement for residents, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Moreover, the scheme plays a significant role of rural economic developer in the region through providing employment opportunities and income generation. The findings underscore the importance of further homestay program support to enhance sustainability over a long period of time and maximize their economic benefits. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen the Homestay Scheme's positive impact on rural development in Uttarakhand Garhwal.
