Abstract

The term observation stands for watching something or someone carefully, attentively and systematically. We as common men often come across many things, situations in our everyday life, but we do not pay enough attention to each of them. We see them mostly from a casual point of view hardly having any particular motive behind it. But when we talk about the observation method in the context of research, it is counted in a different way altogether as the same thing is done differently from the casual seeing. There is a chain of systems that are followed by the researcher. Observation method of collecting data is one of the oldest techniques, and it is used mainly by both the scientists and social scientists. This paper highlights the certain aspects of Observation method its role in data collection, significance in the research arena how it works what are its key benefits as well as its major drawbacks.
