| Abstract | Objectives: This paper explores the integration of indigenous medicinal systems with modern biomedical health services in Himalayan societies. The primary objective is to analyze how traditional botanical knowledge—specifically concerning Tulsi, Amla, Sarpgandha, Harad, and Cannabis—can be revitalized to create a pluralistic, culturally resonant, and sustainable healthcare model in high-altitude regions. Methodology: The research employs a qualitative, multidisciplinary approach drawing from ethnobotany, medical anthropology, and public health policy. It utilizes a comparative framework to map traditional therapeutic uses of specific Himalayan flora against contemporary pharmacological validations, supported by a localized case study on integrated healthcare-seeking behaviors in Himalayan communities. Central Argument: The paper argues that true healthcare resilience in the Himalayas cannot be achieved by supplanting indigenous knowledge with modern biomedicine. Instead, a synergistic "dialogue" between tradition and modernity is essential. Revitalizing indigenous botanical practices alongside allopathic frameworks not only democratizes healthcare access in remote topographies but also preserves bio-cultural heritage and promotes holistic ecological conservation. |
