Yoga as Philosophy and Lifestyle: Integrating Ancient Wisdom with Contemporary Well-BeinAbstractYoga is one of the most profound contributions of the Indian knowledge tradition to humanity. Although it is often identified with physical postures and exercises, its original purpose extends far beyond bodily fitness. Classical yoga presents a comprehensive philosophical system that seeks harmony between body, mind, intellect, and consciousness while guiding the individual toward self-realization and liberation (mokṣa). Rooted in the wisdom of the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gītā, and Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras, yoga offers a disciplined path based on ethical conduct, self-control, meditation, and spiritual awareness. In the contemporary world, marked by stress, materialism, environmental degradation, and mental health challenges, yoga has emerged as an effective means of promoting holistic well-being. This paper examines yoga as both a philosophical framework and a practical lifestyle. It explores the metaphysical foundations of yoga, the significance of the eightfold path (Aṣṭāṅga Yoga), and the relevance of yogicprinciples in education, healthcare, psychology, environmental sustainability, and social harmony. The paper also critically discusses the commercialization of yoga and argues for preserving its spiritual and ethical foundations. Employing a qualitative and textual research methodology based on classical scriptures and contemporary scholarly literature, the study concludes that yoga remains a timeless system capable of fostering individual transformation, ethical citizenship, and global peace. Its philosophy continues to provide practical solutions for many of the moral, psychological, and social challenges of the twenty-first century.

Leading from the South: India’s Quest for Institutional Legitimacy in the Emerging World OrderAbstractThe end of the world with a center of its gravity that was still a clear post-Second World War order around the United States‚ around Western institutions‚ means that the elements of this new world are unknown․ New voices and new ideas are responsible for the building of a new world order․ India's role is especially critical․ It is an important and growing player in global climate change governance‚ transitioning from a passive norm-taker‚ adapting to rules made by others‚ to a norm shaper‚ a country looking to propose an alternate and to speak for the Global south․ The chapter covers India's evolution from a non-aligned power struggling to avoid subjugation to the Cold War superpowers (given India's limited global reach) to its current position covering Global South Summits and leading the promotion of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and India's turn at the G20 presidency to promote the philosophy of inclusion summed up in the slogan Vasudaiva Kutumbakam ("One Earth‚ One Family‚ One Future")․ India's climate diplomacy and development partnership are beginning to change the norms of legitimacy and cooperation through innovation‚ albeit with some limitations․ However‚ there remain numerous concerns around India's ability to lead‚ whether it is willing and capable of rising to the occasion‚ whether it can reconcile its aspirations of leading the world with its domestic constraints and whether it will truly represent the South․ However, India's evolving role highlights an important fact: the Global South is no longer just a place where norms are acted upon, but is now a place where norms are actively created. By analyzing India's history, this chapter seeks to show how the Global South is reimagining its future from the South, with India acting as one of its primary architects.

Social Realism in Yusuf Idris’s Arkhas Layâlî (The Cheapest Nights): An Analytical StudyAbstractSocial realism is an important literary approach that presents the real conditions of society, especially the struggles of poor and marginalized people. Yusuf Idris is one of the most important modern Arabic writers who realistically depicted the lives of poor and marginalized people in his short stories. His first short story collection Arkhas Layâlî (The Cheapest Nights) was published in the year 1954. The book was warmly welcomed by both readers and critics alike, and it made Yusuf Idris famous at the young age of twenty-seven. The short story collection Arkhas Layâlî shows the harsh realities of poverty, social inequality, unemployment, and human suffering in Egyptian society. The story mainly focuses on the miserable condition of a poor family trapped in economic hardship and continuous social struggle. Through simple language and realistic description, Yusuf Idris presents the difficulties faced by poor people and criticizes the government for ignoring the suffering of the poor. This study attempts to analyse the elements of social realism in Arkhas Layâlî and examine how Yusuf Idris portrays the painful realities of ordinary life.
