The Body as Canvas: Visual Language of Gond Tribal Tattoos in Nagpur District
Abstract
This study focuses on the cultural and symbolic significance of tattooing tradition among the Gond population of Maharashtra's Nagpur district. Fieldwork, participant observation, and interviews with Gond women, elders, tattoo artists and tattoo researchers form the basis of this ethnographic study. To understand tattooing as a visual language that communicates identity, spirituality, and social affiliation, the research records traditional motifs & its meanings, tattooing techniques, and design placement.
According to research, Gond women's tattoos serve as protective, manifestation, and skin-beautification marks that are ingrained in their traditional cosmology. To connect the body to spiritual and cultural continuity, elders highlighted tattoos as bearers of ancestral memory. Younger participants, on the other side, showed hesitation, pointing out that the toppling of traditional tattooing has been influenced by urban migration, modern lifestyles, and societal stigma.
This study presents evidence that tattoos are both a type of body art and a repository of intangible history of the Gond people in Nagpur. Due to downfall of this precious culture, the study emphasizes the significance of recording and conserving Gond tattoo traditions.

Fluid Identities: Queer Performativities in Dance Like a Man and On a Muggy Night in Mumbai
Abstract
Queer study is an interdisciplinary field of study. As an integral part of Gender Studies,it deals with some key concepts like heteronormativity, performativity, fluidity of identity and subversion. We have a glimpse of this analytical perspective in the works of renowned authors like Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Virginia Woolf, Adriene Rich ,Oscar Wilde and James Baldwin and so on. Through my paper I intend to show some prevailing complicated aspects of our society which are considered as social taboos. To analyze my strand on these specific issues , I have included in my study two specific works: Dance Like a Man and On a Muggy Night in Mumbai. When we are talking about the Modern theater we have to discuss Mahesh Dattani who needs no introduction. The modern society in Mahesh Dattani's plays is the setting. He has researched themes related to social exclusion, gender inequality, fundamentalism, and the psychological effects of the terrible HIV/AIDS epidemic. He is bold and unafraid to convey novel issues such as men and women's representation of their sex preferences, which was taboo in Indian society until recently. Readers feel empathetic and sympathetic towards him for his accurate depiction of human nature. Dance Like a Man brings us to a specific world where the protagonist Jairaj is a victim of the gender binary of patriarchal society. In On a Muggy Night in Mumbai we see the plight of Kamlesh and Prakash to accept each other as life partners. In this paper, through textual analysis I will examine how Dattani's plays depict queer people and argue that gender roles are socially rather than physiologically determined. Dance Like a Man and On a Muggy Night in Mumbai, two of Dattani's plays, have been chosen for this purpose.

Sikkim: A Model for Organic Growth and Sustainability
Abstract
Sikkim the first organic state of India with implementation of 100% organic farming by conserving our amusing natural resources, with copious flora and fauna, vivacious bionetwork and fertile soil which contains a high organic matter. Sikkim’s state government passed the resolution of shifting to organic farming in 2003 and disbanded chemical farming in 2014. My study explores the existing drifts of organic farming in Sikkim where still 80% of population relies on agriculture or the associated activities related to agriculture. Various phases of organic farming in Sikkim have been illustrated in my case study. Role of allied shareholders and constraints in terms of infrastructure predominantly irrigation, transportation and energy, monetary and advertising constraints for the advanced production and revenue realisation has been taken into account. The change to organic practice has been inspired by ecological and well-being concerns, monetary openings, and a commitment to sustainable agronomy.

The Impact of Leisure-Time Physical Activity on Quality of Life Among Working Education Professionals
Abstract
Education professionals face a well-documented crisis of occupational stress and burnout, detrimentally impacting their quality of life (QoL) and, consequently, student outcomes. While leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) is a recognized promoter of general well-being, its specific role as a buffer against profession-specific stressors remains underexplored, as identified through a systematic PRISMA review conducted for this study. This sequential explanatory mixed-methods study aimed to empirically investigate the relationship between LTPA and QoL among education professionals and to elucidate the mechanisms, barriers, and facilitators that characterize this relationship. A quantitative phase collected data from 188 education professionals via online surveys, using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the WHOQOL-BREF. Data were analyzed using correlation, multiple regression, and advanced statistical techniques (mediation and moderation analysis via Hayes' PROCESS macro). A subsequent qualitative phase conducted semi-structured interviews with a purposively selected sub-sample of 18 participants. Thematic analysis was employed to explore the quantitative findings in depth. Quantitative analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between LTPA levels and overall QoL (r = .41, p < .001), with the strongest associations in the psychological and physical health domains. LTPA was the strongest unique predictor of QoL (β = 0.36, p < .001) after controlling for demographics. Mediation analysis confirmed that perceived stress significantly mediated this relationship (indirect effect: β = 0.18). Qualitatively, three overarching themes were identified: (1) LTPA as a resource for psychological detachment and identity reinforcement, (2) systemic barriers including mental exhaustion and a culture of guilt, and (3) critical facilitators such as social accountability and institutional support. LTPA is a significant and potent predictor of enhanced QoL for education professionals, functioning primarily through stress reduction. The findings suggest that effective well-being interventions must extend beyond individual responsibility to address the cultural and structural barriers within educational institutions. Promoting LTPA requires systemic strategies, including institutional policy changes and leadership support, to foster a sustainable and healthy educational workforce.

A Psychological Study of No One Writes to the Colonel by Gabriel García Márquez: A Psychoanalytic Approach Based on Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung
Abstract
The silent perseverance of a poor war veteran who waits every Friday for a pension letter that never comes is explored in Gabriel García Márquez's 1961 novella No One Writes to the Colonel. This study uses Sigmund Freud and Carl Gustav Jung's psychoanalytic frameworks to investigate the Colonel's inner world. The essay illustrates the Colonel's internal conflict between hopelessness and the enduring delusion of hope by utilizing Freud's theories of repression, sublimation, and the death drive.
The Colonel's symbolic role as the "Wise Old Man," representing perseverance and spiritual dignity in the face of material hardship, is further clarified by Jung's theories of the collective unconscious and archetypes. This study contends that Márquez's novella is both a profound psychological tale and a socio-political critique, based on main textual evidence and secondary critical analysis. The Colonel's never-ending wait turns becomes a symbolic act of resistance, a declaration of purpose in a ridiculous and forgotten world. In the end, Márquez dramatizes the unconscious human yearning for wholeness and meaning through the language of waiting and stillness.

Social Realism and the Empowerment of Women in Sudha Murty’s Mahashweta
Abstract
Sudha Murty’s Mahashweta (2000) is a powerful novel that explores gender inequality, social prejudice, and the inner strength of women in Indian society. Through the story of Anupama, who is rejected by her husband and society after developing leukoderma, Murty portrays the painful reality of discrimination and the triumph of human dignity. The novel combines social realism with moral vision, encouraging self-respect and independence among women. This paper analyses Mahashweta through the lens of social realism and women’s empowerment, highlighting how Murty uses simple storytelling to expose deep social truths and affirm human values.

Comparative Analysis of Women’s Health in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand: With Help of National Family Health Survey (NFHS)- 3 & 5
Abstract
Women, for most of recorded history, have assumed a predominantly domestic role in society, serving largely and often exclusively as wives and mothers. Women's health is a better predictor of a child's health than the father's health. When a mother becomes ill, there is a larger likelihood that her children will also become ill. According to UNICEF, "Malnourished mothers give birth to malnourished children." We can easily see how the family’s health is heavily reliant on the mother’s health. Women often care for the health of their spouse and children before taking care of their own needs. They are prone to foregoing medical treatment to be able to provide for the needs of their family. Up to 80 percent of healthcare decisions in households are made by women. Unfortunately, women often are giving themselves low priority on the list of things to take care of. Women's health is a global issue and deserves attention in every country. This is why women's health is so important, and is at the very heart of the Millennium Development Goals and the UN's project to lower global poverty, as women are the bedrock of impoverished societies. In consequence, the main focus of the study is to know the status of women's health in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand (based on NFHS-3 & NFHS-5).

Lok-Silence and Swaraj of the Self: Reclaiming Inner Freedom in an Age of Perpetual Noise
Abstract
In contemporary public life, noise has become a defining feature of communication. Speech is constant, rapid, and performative, yet genuine understanding remains scarce. This paper examines the concept of lok-silence—a culturally rooted mode of inner stillness—and explores its relation to swaraj of the self, the practice of self-rule at the emotional and cognitive level. Drawing upon Indian philosophical traditions, including the Upanishadic value of mauna and Gandhi’s conception of swaraj as inner sovereignty, this study argues that silence is not a withdrawal from engagement but a prerequisite for meaningful dialogue. Modern communication environments, particularly digital platforms, encourage reaction rather than reflection, leading to cycles of humiliation, defensiveness, and polarization. In contrast, silence allows for the restoration of proportion, the capacity to listen without anxiety, and the ability to respond rather than react. The paper proposes that reclaiming silence as a deliberate act of agency can serve as a foundation for healthier democratic discourse and more humane civic relationships. By reinterpreting silence not as passivity but as self-grounding presence, the study shows how silence enables individuals to participate in the public sphere without losing interior stability. Ultimately, silence is presented as an ethical and political resource for sustaining dignity in an age of perpetual noise. Keywords

Post-Apocalyptic Themes and Postmodernism in Jeanette Winterson’s The Stone Gods
Abstract
The postmodern narrative strategies of The Stone Gods are fragmentary and non-linear, using such devices to present a nuanced commentary on cyclical human self-destruction on Orbus, a dying planet on its last days, and two other apocalyptic realms: the defunct Easter Island civilization and post-nuclear Tech City. The novel uses both narrative lines running simultaneously to show how different human civilizations share similar dynamics concerning/propped up by identical mechanisms of environmental degradation, resource exploitation, and societal breakdown.
The postmodern narrative devices: temporal dislocation, metacommentary, and repeated characters serve to confront not merely specific narrative readers but civilization generally with aspects of what is termed The Fractured Reality Of The Anthropocene. The introduction of Spike, a synthetic cyborg with authentic human emotion and consciousness, serves to deconstruct humanist notions of consciousness and intersubjectivity, extending such notions to other beings. The novel transcends postmodern irony and nihilism to embrace what critics call Metamoderism, fluctuating seperately between apocalyptic urgency and knowledge about cyclical human failure.
This dual characterization is literally embodied in both disjunct narrative confusion and passionate prosaic expression a combination rejecting simplistic solutions to these apocalypses while nevertheless upholding intersentence functions concerning love, connection, and meaning-acting both on a mere rational level and embodied on more intuitive substructural senses associated amaze particularly secured on latter. Using ecocriticism and queer theory, The Stone Gods places the fate of both environment and human civilization exemplarily within and simultaneously outside overarching narratives about Capitalist patriarchies and/or Heteronormativities.
The final project is to offer to such a civilizationally threatened scenario one on which there is established this asymptotic constructively pessimistic vision ported toward necessarily coupling probability estimates concerning civilization’s cyclical constructive self-destruction with necessary engagement therewith on both love and knowledge fronts within our contemporary normalized called The Anthropocene Epoch.

A Study on the Impact of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme on Enrolment and Attendance in Assam
Abstract
Abstract:
One of the largest school-based welfare programmes in India is the Mid-Day Meal Scheme (now PM POSHAN) which aims to improve the nutritional status of children and at the same time increase enrolment, attendance and retention in elementary schools. In 2004-05, Assam implemented the scheme in all government and government-aided schools and opened it up to all classes in an attempt to deal with classroom hunger and motivate children of different socio-economic statuses to attend school regularly. The paper will discuss how the scheme has changed enrolment and attendance in Assam based on secondary data, such as the UDISE + and other statistics, reports on ASER, state PM POSHAN documents and available research studies. According to the analysis, mid-day meals have led to high school attendance, decline of school dropout and enhanced regularity of school attendance, especially among children who are part of the socially and economically disadvantaged groups. There is an indication that the scheme is not only a nutritional support mechanism, but also an incentive in education that reduces the opportunity cost of schooling in low-income families. Notwithstanding such accomplishments, there are various issues such as the infrastructural gaps, limitations on monitoring and other issues with quality, hygiene and timely food delivery. The policy recommendations which are given at the end of the paper are expected to enhance PM POSHAN in Assam to consolidate further on gains made by universal elementary education and facilitate equitable learning outcomes.

Education as Emancipation: Phule’s Vision in Gulamgiri
Abstract
Jyotirao Phule’s book Gulamgiri (Slavery, 1873) is a foundational text in the history of anti-caste activism and social reform in India. The book is in the form of essays and written as dialogue between the writer and Dhondiba, a character. Phule argues that education is the most potent instrument of emancipation, challenges the Brahminical monopoly over knowledge, and lays the groundwork for modern Dalit and feminist thought.
This Research paper examines how Gulamgiri elaborates education not merely as a means of individual progress, but as a central strategy for resistance and social and political transformation. It exposes how religious scriptures were used to perpetuate myths and traditions that sustained inequality and subjugation of the Shudras and Ati-Shudras (marginalised communities). It places Jyotirao Phule’s vision within the larger context of nineteenth-century reformist movements and postcolonial theory, a portrayal upon contemporary scholarship to assess the work’s continuing relevance in society. The findings suggest that Phule’s educational philosophy foreshadows later emancipatory pedagogies and remains vital in struggles for justice, equality, and fraternity. The book, primarily written in Marathi, has an everlasting impact on regional literature, and its translation has changed the Indian way of Dalit writing. Phule dedicated the book to the African American movement to end slavery, linking the two struggles for freedom.

Socio cultural Practices, Gendered Knowledge Transmission and Ethnomedicinal Plant Use for Women’s Health in the Tribal Communities of Badamalhera and Bijawar Blocks, Chhatarpur District, Madhya Pradesh
Abstract
This paper examines the native knowledge and practice of the ethnomedicinal plants of native tribal groups who use the plants to treat the health of their women in the Badamalhera and Bijawar Blocks of Chhatarpur District, Madhya Pradesh. Particular interest is in (a) the socio cultural contextualisation of the use of plants (menstruation, fertility, childbirth, postpartum recovery), (b) the passing of gendered knowledge (women healers, matrilineal/cross gender transfer, generational change), and (c) the catalogue of medicinal plants used in female reproductive health by the local ethnic/tribal groups. Interviews in the field, participant observation and plant surveys were held. Results show a vast plant cure repertoire, powerful women centred knowledge networks, and indications of loss of transmission across younger generations. The paper indicates the implications on conservation of knowledge, empowering women as health custodians and incorporation of ethnomedicine into modern health systems.

ग्रामीण महिलाओं के मतदान निर्णय को प्रभावित करने वाले कारकों का विश्लेषण : बुंदेलखंड के छतरपुर और राजनगर क्षेत्र का अध्ययन
Abstract

Echoes of Life and Loss: Portrayal of Human Values and Nature in Select Verses in Ripples on the Sands of Time
Abstract
This paper examines the interwoven themes of human values, endurance, mortality, and the natural world reflected in the seven selected poems in Ripples on the Sands of Time. It presents how Longfellow’s A Psalm of Life foregrounds moral courage and purposeful living, and Whitman’s Animals while contrasting human restlessness with the instinctive balance of the natural world, emphasizing literature’s role in interrogating human conduct. Rossetti’s When I Am Dead My Dearest introduces the inevitability of death and the serenity of acceptance, whereas Kipling’s If celebrates resilience and moral fortitude as guiding principle of human values. Yeats’ The Lake Isle of Innisfree evokes a Romantic yearning for solitude and spiritual renewal in nature which gets counterbalanced by O’Connor’s ecological vision in The Olive Tree with emphasis on interdependence and environmental preservation. Achebe’s Refugee Mother and Child, rooted in the postcolonial experience, shifts the discourse towards suffering, maternal sacrifice, and the fragility of life in the face of political and social displacement. Together, these poems offer a dialogue across cultures and centuries, knitting a variety of human concerns where life, loss, and nature intersect.
This paper argues that these poems present enduring poetic voices and frames human existence as inseparable from the values of resilience, empathy, and ecological consciousness, making them relevant to both personal reflection and contemporary global challenges. While reading across these varied yet complementary works, this paper analyzes how poetry continues to offer ripples of wisdom on the changing sands of time. Keywords: human values, mortality, resilience, nature, ecological consciousness, cultural dialogue, wisdom.

Girls’ Enrolment Statistics at Secondary Level in Punjab: How Do Inequalities Widen Across the Grades?
Abstract
The role of education must largely be to maintain a society of equals, which gives access, fairness and opportunities for all. However, despite the various measures undertaken by the Indian government and local bodies to reduce the inequality in education between genders, castes, classes and religions, this inequality persists (Vaid, 2019). Unfortunately, there are glaring regional, caste and gender inequalities in literacy status and access to education at all levels. The current paper tries to examine the girls' enrolment statistics in Punjab at secondary schools in terms of social category, especially Dalit girls who are living in rural areas. This paper analyses the enrolment trends of girls by using data from secondary sources, namely, census reports, statistical abstracts, economic surveys, district diaries, reports of MHRD, Planning Commission, etc. Intersectional analyses highlight that girls from lower castes face triple disadvantages: locale, gendered norms and caste-based marginalization. Thus, the analysis of all these education growth parameters demands far more serious policy attention to improve the status of rural girls and Punjab has to travel a long journey to bridge caste and gender barriers in literacy and school enrolment gaps.

Borders and Bloodshed: The Human Cost of the Indo-Pak Partition 1947
Abstract
"India and Pakistan creation was one of the most tragic instances in the history of South Asia."This paper investigates the political, social, and humanitarian reasons and effects of Partition of two independent countries: India and Pakistan. It critically examines the roles of central actors like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the British colonial government, as it studies the communal violence, mass migration, and long-lasting legacies of the episode. Based on both scholarly and oral historical evidence, this paper contends that the Partition was a result of both long-standing communal conflict and the break. The Partition of British India in 1947 formed two independent countries—India and Pakistan down of colonial rule, and its legacy continues to influence India-Pakistan relations today.

An Orientation of Caste System and Education: A Discourse
Abstract
Various factors define the social stratification called caste which further defines the social hierarchy of its individuals. This stratification mainly based on power, prestige etc. Caste structure is formed on the basis of the birth of the individual. In the caste ideology the Brahminic model of Hindu Society faces a problem of ‘life and death’ derived from the Indian thinking in terms of ‘purity and pollution’. The purity of life is the absolute truth free from this world and beyond death in a state of mukti (salvation), whereas impurity is related to death, human waste, dirt etc. in such thinking it is easy to understand why most of the Hindus are against no-vegetarianism and the use of alcohol. Abstaining keeps them away from any possible contact with death and impurity. This is the character of the caste theory, whereas in practice, although ‘pure’ and impure’ are separated in order to protect life from death, special caste specialists and groups are in fact formed, who charge themselves with impurity to free others from pollution. It creates the hierarchical classification of the four main ‘verna’ and a number of jatis or castes which are based on series of gradations of ritual and religious purity, high and low status, and eating and drinking habits.
The root of English meaning of Jati or Caste comes from the word ‘Casta’ which in Portuguese means breed, race or kind. Hindu system calls it Jati. The functional role of caste as a unit explains the status of equal individuals; caste also acts as a system which maintains the characters of the very caste and its members.

स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात् भारत में महिला सशक्तिकरण: एक सामाजिक विश्लेषण
Abstract

A New Dimension of Vedanta in Bengal
Abstract
A school of Indian philosophical thought known as theism. Theistic thinking depends on this Veda. Just as the importance of Vedic civilization cannot be excluded when explaining the context of Indian cultural civilization, it is natural to think that the context of Vedanta cannot be excluded in explaining the cultural civilization of Bengal. Human civilization throws up, from time to time serious challenges but human destiny various thinkers have emerged over the ages to solve those problems. When Bengal human civilization was caught up in the cobweb of chaos and confusion, Hindu society was tottering, at that time, Rammohan appeared in Bengal with modern Vedantic thinking. He brought Vedanta to the masses based on the common language of common people, and later in the 19th century in Bengal Sri Ramakrishna opened a new practice of Vedanta which was confined to books. This Vedantic thought of Ramakrishna is a new era of Vedanta which calls Neo-Vedanta. A small attempt of his own in the discussion part.

Abstract
This paper evaluates socio-economic effects of climate change in Pilibhit District, Uttar Pradesh on agriculture and livelihood between 2005 and 2024. The analysis of the fall in the crop yields, especially rice and wheat, based on secondary data in form of government reports, agricultural surveys and climate publications, as well as changes in socio-economic indicators such as agricultural employment, income levels, and rural unemployment are analyzed. The results imply that there is evident association between declining rain, increasing temperatures and declining agricultural productivity. Although agricultural income has been rising, agricultural jobs have been dwindling as it is witnessing the impact of the climate change. The paper ends by giving a recommendation on how to encourage climate-resilient agriculture, rural livelihood diversification, enhancement of infrastructure and increased government support in reducing the negative effects of climatic changes.
